Ransoming Fire

Sebastian Krizomatis and his father are Greek fugitives running from the 18th century’s Ottoman empire. They should be sailing as far away from the island of Chios as Dr. Turnbull’s ship, the New Fortune, will take them.

Instead, Seba and his best friend, Paolo, are sneaking into Seba’s heavily-fortified village to convince Seba’s mother, aka “five feet of fury,” that she must leave the only home she’s ever known.

Can Seba evade the Ottoman guards, Sesseran sentries, and mastiha-thieving pirates to infiltrate the village? Will he succeed in persuading his stubborn, hot-tempered mother to abandon her legacy?
